www.5vemics.com is the future, yo. Check us out.

Weird name, weird album cover, nice album. Tanya Morgan is a 3 man group comprised of emcees from Brooklyn (Von Pea who is also the producer and dropped a nice LP last year) and Cinncinnati (Donwill & Illyas). Some joints are comical, some soulful, and there’s even a good few bangers. If you like Pacific Division, Little Brother & Strange Fruit Project check ’em out.

Nujabes-Sky is Falling (feat. C.L. Smooth)

Ok my name is something2die4 a.k.a. Ace, a.k.a. King_Of_Spades. checktherhime is THE future of the blog world and we are going to bring you (the world) great music/hiphop that has been thrown under the rug by the industry for the past decade.

Nujabes is a Japanese producer/DJ….to me he is one of the greatest producers that has ever touched the music/hiphop scene. To introduce him to everyone that doesn’t know who he is I’m posting one of my favorite songs from him that he did with C.L. Smooth. When I listen to his music (Nujabes) it makes me think about the past, present and the future. You can call it soul music. ;)

…. from the album Hydeout Productions Second Collection

One of the many albums I slept on in 2007. This joint is for lovers of Digable Planets, Emanon (Aloe Blacc & Exile) and Panacea. Hell if you like Jazz and you like Hip-Hop there’s no doubt in my mind you’ll thoroughly enjoy this joint. Who would’ve thought two cats from Amsterdam could put it down so well (the emcee is Aruban born, so don’t worry… he spits in perfect English)?

In case you missed it here’s the first video from the highly anticipated sophomore LP from Buckshot & 9th Wonder titled The Formula (4/29). The first video for the single Go All Out features everybody’s favorite cameo comedian, Charlie Murphy and originally dropped a few weeks back. The second single, Hold It Down (featuring Talib Kweli) is fresh (dropped a day ago) and has me fiending even more for a leak (or at least the 29th to get here).

I’m gonna begin by posting one of my favorite albums from last year. Statik Selektah presents Spell My Name Right (The Album) suprised me to say the least. I didn’t know what to expect when I first listened to the album last November. I didn’t really know anything about Statik Selektah besides the mixtapes I had of his. I knew he worked with Premier, but besides that I didn’t know much. After listening to the album, he instantly became one of my favorite producers. The production from Statik Selektah is amazing, and the guest list is just as good. Continue reading for more albums (Senim Silla & Masta Ace) and the download links of course.

My user title says checktherime, but I go by many other things… Breeze, Breezilla, Breezus, Breezeus, Breezuno, Queen B etc. and my main purpose behind starting this blog was to get that good shit out

to the masses. I decided to enlist a few other heads from all over the place to help me out with this site,

there’s  DMXXX from Estonia and Chesbomb from NY (I’m from AL by the way… big surprise I know).

Anyway, we’re here to promote good hip hop music from now until the rest of forever so if you have a request or something that we should make the subject of one of our posts leave a comment. On the subject of good hip hop here’s the 2006 album by one of the dopest groups I’ve heard in a while, Panacea from Washington D.C. These cats are some The Roots/Crown City Rockers type vibe so give ’em a listen.

ASFY cover

Im DMXXX and I’d like to welcome you to CheckTheRhime!!!!!

First of all heres the new album by former Bone Thugs-N-Harmony member Bizzy Bone called A Song For You. This is a really dope album. One might say its a lil bit too spiritual and soft/emotional but If you appreciate music that artists put a lot of work into you will love this album. Oh and as a bonus I added two ASFY cuts: That Good feat Trina and Back In The Highlife feat Chris Notez. Enjoy!
