Here’s Blu’s first studio work (as far as I know). Originally released in 2006 before Below the Heavens it includes 2 tracks off the album as well as 3 other tracks (if you were up on the advance release of BTH then you’ve got Party of Two already). There’s also a video to go along with the track (Mainframe produced) ”Another Day”. It’s been floating around for a minute, so if you haven’t seen it check that out as well. C’mon now… Blu’s your girl’s favorite color and should be yours too.

“A meaningless death made me question the meaning of life
Does my body remain at rest like when I’m sleeping at night?
Will I burn in eternal hell or will I find paradise?
Be rejected or resurrected like the body of Christ?
Is it like purgatory, the story described by the Catholics?
Or Nirvana that Buddhists honor in both theory and practice?
Like I study in my college philosophy classes
Or do my molecules and atoms travel back to the gases?”

I was wandering through my music folders and ended up finding this forgotten album. I gave it a quick listen through to refresh my memory, and I once again came to the conclusion that Kno is an amazing producer. Kno is able to give a completely different feel to the album. It is incredibly different from the production on The Black Album and when listening to some of the tracks, you can almost forget that you’ve heard Jay-Z spit those verses before. Check it out if you’re interested.

Changing up the 2 emcees, 1 producer dynamic a little bit (1 emcee, 1 producer, and 1 DJ) here’s our next indie trio, Move.meant hailing from Los Angeles, California. Great production coming from Just Beats (dude sounds like a premature version of Sabzi from Blue Scholars & Common Market), decent cuts from Spider, Champ’s lyrics are for the most part on point, and the album also has some nice features from Blu, Trek Life, Anecdote & more. I wouldn’t put it in my 10 best albums of 2007 (still a solid listen), but with time I’m sure these cats will move on up the food chain. Def check ’em out regardless or at least peep the video.

So, apparently Murs has jumped on the entire bastard pop bandwagon… um, it’s nice to try new things but this is probably the type of thing that’s best done once. Parisian G-Funk? My God…
