She thought that she had reached the pinnacle of her career upon
winning the “Miss Spoken Word Twin Cities 2001″ competition at the
Bloomington Radisson, but Dessa had no idea what was in store for
her. After three weeks touring the upper midwest promoting the
Written Word and Jack Panama’s Sunless Tanner, Dessa settled back
in to her dental hygenist job prepared to spend the rest of her
life marginally happy and occasionally marginally sad. Doomtree
had recently had a Foot-in-Mouth Disease scare, so they organized
a crew check-up at Smilin’ Eunich Dentistry. Their hygenist Dessa
was a fan of the collective’s work, and approached Bobby about
collaborating with them in the future. Bobby jumped at the chance,
as the “Underground Hip Hop Affirmative Action” and “Back-Packer
Women in the Workplace” acts had recently passed unopposed at
Russell Simmons’ Annual Hip Hop Summit. And the rest is history.

This is Dessa’s first release, False Hopes.
