Word, so I’ve been plugging this site, Muzik Supremacy, for a long ass time now. The original members of this blog came together on MS and most of us still post there regularly and are mods/team members. We recently got a new homepage at Muzik Supremacy which includes blogs and yours truly (Breezilla/Breeze) has a blog there. I’d appreciate if you all would check my first post (And Then I Played Dilla) out and if also check out the message boards there (referer Breeze).

So we recently experienced some downtime and I’m sure I don’t have to explain why. Anywho in this process we lost a month’s worth of material. We are currently working on re-posting content, fixing videos in posts, and numerous other tedious and tiresome tidbits. If there’s anything that got got lost during out downtime get at us on the request page or checktherhimeblog@gmail.com so we can make it a priority. All in all this entire situation is pure wackness, but one monkey never stops the show. We have more of the new, new coming just as usual as well as the launch of our sister site launching soon. Anyway here’s to the dopeness within all of the wackness. Check the best hip-hop oriented movie in years after the jump. I’m too preoccupied with the restoration of the site to write up a synopsis, but check the trailer, check the movie, and be sure to add this modern classic to library A.S.A.P.

So I’ve been talking about the release of this compilation for sometime now and it’s finally here along with two new members of the CTR team. As those who frequent the site know I did a search for somebody to help with the site since the original members (all of who are still affiliated with the site) have become rather busy with… well, life. Based on responses to several questions we sent out to everyone who showed interest in contributing, the two who’ve been chosen (as of right now) are LedD and Thedude… not familiar names now, but you’ll become accquainted with them in during the next few days, weeks, months and maybe years (If you were not chosen, but opted to participate in the new blog we’re planning on starting, you’ll recieve an email in the next few days… thanks to everyone else). Welcome them here and check the mixtape (pass it around if you like). Tracklist after the jump…

o as some of you may have noticed, we recently experienced a few hours of downtime while we were upgrading our server. This caused us to lose our old theme, yet we didn’t lose any of our posts or comments. I had to hurry up and throw a theme together, but if you’re not liking the colors, don’t worry… it’s only temporary which is why we’re calling it v1.5. We’ve added a shoutbox (get as us!), and we’ll be adding some other features soon. I’m currently trying to figure out how to get the videos to work again so if anybody has the know how hit us up. A little bit of downtime can’t stop the good music from rolling so check the new People Under The Stairs Mixtape (the pre-lude to Fun DMC, the PUTS LP that’s supposed to drop later this year). Shit’s a one hour long track of that ol’ boom bap… and more.

v2.0 coming soon.

We’re currently in the process of looking for another member for the CTR team. All of the original members of CTR (all of who are still contributors to the blog.. nobody is leaving us for good as far as I know) have been quite busy as of late, so we’re looking for a fourth member to help pick up the slack. All you need is a good internet connection and knowledge of hip-hop music (particularly alternative). If you’re interested just drop us a line at checktherhimeblog@gmail.com titled “Blog Contributor” and we’ll get back to you with a few questions and give you the opportunity to do some posts.

To everyone else who isn’t interested: Don’t forget to hit us up for requests at our e-mail account and also drop us a line if you run your own blog and would like to become blog affiliates.

Check The Rhime Presents: What’s In My Backpack Vol. 1 coming soon…

For those who sent e-mails: We’ll be getting back to all of you Thursday before noon (CST).

So as many of you regular cats have noticed I’ve been missing in action for about two weeks now which is culmination of too many hours to be worked at my job with far too many employees as well as a broken laptop. I’ve kind of solved the job problem and I’ve def found a solution to my laptop problems (bought a laptop of this cat for 2 cartons of Newports), so I’m back in full force. HUGE, HUGE, HUGE shouts to DMXXX and Ches B for holding things down in my absence (of course they always do even when I’m here). Have requests, questions, suggestions, submissions, or want ton be affiliated with our blog? Drop us a line here or at checktherhimeblog@gmail.com. On with the new shit.

“If it’s too abstract, you need to get smart, stupid!Such a Moka-ism. Funny little quips and thoughts burst out often here. Following their Martian Xmas disc, this quirky concoction is pure modern Moka: 22 short, sweet, self-produced songs showcasing his soul. The longest track is 2:28.
Dippin’ into 60s soul, 70s psychedelia, 80s pop and 90s melancholy, Clap Trap is diverse. The sinister skin cocooning Summer Stalker is shockingly satisfying, but it’s criminal to not give it a reasonable resolution. Time To Clean Up is a simmering gem. Mo And Mo features wisdom from Sweatshop Union’s Mos Eisley, whose sharp lyrics could have lasted longer but for brevity, wit and all that.”

For fans of MF Doom, Swollen Members, MF Doom, and Louis Logic. It you like it, cop it legit here.

This is the first single from Common Market’s upcoming sophomore LP by the same title (September 9, 2008). I really enjoyed their first self-titled album (which I bought, because Breeze supports indie artists) as well as the EP they dropped earlier this year (Black Patch War EP) and this single is a good sign that this release will be worthwhile as well. Keep checking back for the new album and and as always if you like it, buy it when it drops. For fans of Gabriel Teodros, Move.meant, and Blue Scholars.

btw… did anybody else notice last.fm is different?
