Requested by my boy Ant, here low on the official mixtape series for the critically acclaimed anime series, Aaron McGruder’s The Boondocks. Anybody who’s seen a few episodes of the show has probably caught onto many of the social undertones and themes of the show (many which have carried over from McGruder’s comic strip by the same title), and his same anti-mainstream society motif shows up in the majority of the musical features on the tapes. Skyzoo, Talib Kweli, Tanya Morgan, Pacific Division, Jean Grae, Mos Def, Little Brother, Blu, Pete Rock & CL Smooth, Tribe, Cunninlynguists, AZ, Rakim, Quasimoto, Bishop Lamonot and so many more. Do yourself a favor and at least peep one of these.

Buckshot VLS from Clin Doeil which dropped earlier this year. A must for fans of the Jazz-Hop movement, these french dudes know what’s up! A quikie from lastfm:
Jazz Liberatorz are three beatmakers originated from Meaux town, France, an upcoming well known group created in 1999 and composed of DJ Damage Dusty and Madhi. They’re finally releasing their full length album on french independant label Kif Records (Birdy Nam Nam, Scenario Rock, Svinkels, Pépé Bradock, Guts, Mélodie en soul sol…).
Titled “Clin D’Oeil”, their first album is a tribute to the golden age of hip-hop, taking its strength onto the roots of black music and more notably in jazz music. Through out the album, the listeners will discover the warmful sound of the old jazz fusion records froom 70’s mixed with samples and live instruments on wich Jazz Liberatorz have invited la creme de la creme of the independant hip-hop soul & jazz scene.

Enjoy and remember to support the artists! We do!

Here’s the debut ABB release of the SoCal Jazz Rap group Sound Providers. Like other Californian groups of the same genre, the Sound Providers cleverly mash boom-bap styled hip-hop with smooth jazz blends. The album features guest appearances from Little Brother, The Procussions, Asheru and others. Fans of People Under the Stairs, INI, Crown City Rocks, and Kero One will love this one, but fans of old school cats like Tribe, De La Soul, and Pete Rock & CL Smooth should be able to feel this release as well. Download it and if you like it, cop it here.
